It is absolutely impossible
To breath in tandem with your
Fellow man or woman.
We have gone to war
And the battles are ubiquitous
Yet undefined
Yes
Confusion at death
The numbers numb
Drowning in phlegm
Goodnight, unspoken,
Last moments on a screen,
Lobbiists salivating
At the thought of another variation
Needles squeezed unceremoniously
Into our flesh
Forever?
And social media whips up
Angst and terror
But the money men don’t care
The world has turned full circle
And at last I can say
Goodnight
Even if
There’s no-one there.
