I’m aching because
The son I love,
Is playing with fire
In the Modern world,
Grasping all it has to offer,
Money and trips
And mind altering substances,
And the repercussions,
Come straight back to me.
He’s not doing anything
Any other teen wouldn’t do.
But I’m no longer a teen
It’s so alien to me.
The social media fantasy
Has ramifications
Reaching way beyond my age
And experience,
And I cry
As he slips further and further away.
